Brew Review – Lagunitas The Censored Rich Copper Ale
Introducing The Censored Rich Copper Ale from the Lagunitas Brewing Company:

I’d never heard of this brewery or this brew before picking it off the shelf tonight at the neighborhood grocery store. Anybody know the “censored” word? Ha! I really like the look or attitude or whatever it is some of these smaller brewers have, and I really like trying their beers. Sometimes, however, the stuff in the bottle is not quite as memorable as the bottle itself. So, how did the Censored Rich Copper Ale do?
Appearance: Well, as you can see, the beer certainly lives up to its name. It pours a rich copper color. It is mostly clear and gives a nice view of the non-stop bubble show. The head actually built slightly higher than you see in the photo, but I had the light wrong and let the head settle a bit while I was making adjustments to my kitchen table studio. It’s a nice looking brew, don’t you think? – SEE THE REST OF THIS REVIEW HERE: BREWBRAIN.COM/BLOG

Brew Review – Red Tail Ale
See the new blog at brewbrain.com/blog.

Tonight I bring you my first offering from the Mendocino Brewing Co. – Red Tail Ale.
This is one of six main beers offered by the Mendocino Brewing Co., and their flagship. It is a “bottle conditioned” ale. There is a bit of yeast on the bottom of the bottle, so it is best (in my opinion at least) to pour carefully so as to avoid dumping that bit into the glass. I also prefer not to drink these directly from the bottle as

UPDATE YOUR FEEDS – I’M MOVING!
I’ve got the blog over at brewbrain.com up and running and all future posts will be there. It’s very early days over there at the moment, so lots will be changing over the weekend. First will be moving all the posts on this current blog ot the new blog. People using the beer reviews will be able to pick them up over there. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this move is necessary.
The new blog is at Brewbrain.com/blog
The Brew Brain Store
Update – the logo has had a facelift. I think it will look a whole lot better. I’ll put the new logo and some samples up at the new blog: Brewbrain.com/blog
The store links on this blog still work, so you can go there and see it as well.
This is what the Brew Brain logo looks like. I’ve got all kinds of t-shirts, etc. up and available at the Brew Brain store. Pretty simple and goofy, eh. See all the products here: Brew Brain Store
Photos
I’ve started adding a photo with each beer review. I’ll be taking them all with the same camera and the same settings under the same light, so hopefully they’ll serve as excellent visual comparisons of the different brews. I’ve got the Full Sail Amber and the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale up right now. You can definitely see the difference between a nice quality amber and an equally excellent pale ale.
Brew Review – Full Sail Amber

Hello again, and welcome back to my blog. Tonight I bring you my review of Full Sail Amber.
Full Sail Brewing is an Oregon brewery that’s been crafting their brews since 1987. According to their site, they offer three “core” beers, of which the Amber is one, and four “other” beers. One or two of their “others” seem to be rotations, so who knows how many you could actually taste? One thing is for sure, after giving the

Brew Review – Alaskan Amber
For my next beer review, I offer Alaskan Amber from the Alaskan Brewing Co.
I found this beer on the shelf at my local Safeway store. I’ll get pictures of all the bottles next to the beer in a mug at some point. The label on this bottle particularly appeals to me. I’m an avid fan of “Deadliest Catch” on Discovery Channel these days. It’s a documentary series about the Alaskan crab fishing seasons, and it is

I gave the SA Summer Wheat another try
but if anything I thought worse of it this time. I drank about half of it straight from the bottle and I think it was a stronger sour flavor that way. I dumped the last half out and may very well be dumping my remaining bottles. Lesson learned, never buy 12 of a new brew assuming it will be good. Maybe one of my friends will like it. To be fair, I can’t think of a fruit-infused bottled beer I’ve ever thought much of. I have had fresh lemon with a draft wheat at microbrews several times and that can work very well. Something about bottling that stuff up…..I dunno. I actually had a banana wheat one time at a local microbrew several years ago. I remember it being very strange and not very good. Go figure.
I’ll pick up a selection of ales over the weekend and give then a try. The hard work on that sector of the database must begin……
The Brew Brain store is open for business!
I’ve opened up a Brew Brain store front at cafepress.com. I’ve got Brew Brain logo t-shirts, golf shirts and caps available. I’ll improve the store and add more products in the coming days. Let me know what you think – good and/or bad.
I’ve also started work on BrewBrain.com, but it isn’t ready for prime time quite yet. I’m still in shock that domain was available. It seems that would be snaped up by now.
